Bardigilio

Terrazzo floors were born in Italy, where Venetian artisans used locally quarried stone and glass to create stunning mosaic floors inside and outside of residences, commercial buildings and public buildings. With the Italian Bianco Verona Terrazzo Chippings, modern-day builders and contractors in Ireland can continue this tradition, using the finest Italian stone to produce stunning custom floors.
The Bardigilio Terrazzo Chippings are made from fine Italian marble that provides a durable material for crafting terrazzo floors. Barrdigilio Aggregate is a sharp white with a combination of grey and dark blue colours, it is available in 3-5mm,5-8mm and 9-12mm.

Bardigilio Terrazzo Chippings

Quiet, milky, warmly luminous. Bardigilio (also spelled Bardiglio) Terrazzo Chippings are a refined Italian marble in a soft milky-white shade with subtle hints of grey running through. The colour leans warmer than the bright cool tone of Carrara White, which makes it a designer’s first choice when a terrazzo floor needs to feel grounded and inviting rather than icy.

Where the stone comes from

Bardigilio marble is quarried in Italy and supplied to the European market as a precious terrazzo aggregate. The stone is crushed to a consistent angular size for terrazzo use, with the natural milky white running through slight grey veining still visible across the chip surface once the finished floor is polished. As with all precious stones, availability and specific sizes can be limited depending on the latest quarry batch; we suggest confirming current stock with our team before placing a large terrazzo order.

Where Bardigilio Terrazzo Chippings are used

The chipping is built for terrazzo and related polished-stone finishes. The most popular applications include:

  • Terrazzo flooring in homes, hotel lobbies, retail interiors, and commercial spaces
  • Mosaic designs, accent walls, and architectural feature panels
  • Backsplashes, splashguards, and kitchen-island ends
  • Base layer aggregate beneath paving, especially in luxury patio builds
  • Two-tone aggregate mixes where Bardigilio is blended with darker chippings for visual depth
  • Memorial work where a refined white-grey tone suits the headstone palette

Recommended pairings

Bardigilio is most striking when it sits alongside another colour that brings warmth or contrast. A few classic Italian-terrazzo combinations:

Pair with Effect
Red Verona Warm milky white softens the rich red and brown tones of Verona marble
Botticino Two beige-white Italian marbles in a calm, refined floor mix
Nero Ebano Dark, dramatic black-and-white contrast suited to formal interiors
Recycled glass terrazzo chippings (blue, green, mirror) Adds a contemporary sparkle accent to a classic marble base

Sizes available

Bardigilio is most often stocked in the standard terrazzo grades, typically 3 to 6 mm, 6 to 11 mm, and 11 to 20 mm. The finer grades suit polished countertops, backsplashes, and smooth-floor terrazzo; the larger grades bring more visible chip definition to floors and feature panels. Because the stone is precious, available sizes can vary from batch to batch. Contact our team for current stock and to confirm grading options.

Coverage and quantity guidance

  • 1 × 25 kg bag covers approximately 0.25 m² of terrazzo at a standard floor depth
  • 1 tonne bulk sack covers approximately 10 to 12 m² in a typical pour
  • For mixed-aggregate floors, share your final mix ratio with your installer to work out the right bag count per colour

Order a sample first

Terrazzo is a poured-in-place finish, and the look depends heavily on the cement or resin binder and the polish level applied at the end. We strongly recommend ordering a sample of Bardigilio Terrazzo Chippings before purchasing a larger quantity, so your installer can pour and polish a small test panel and confirm the finished colour, mix balance, and seal before committing to the full floor. The sample is also useful for matching against existing marble worktops, walls, or paired aggregates.

FAQs

Is Bardigilio the same as Bardiglio?

Yes. The two spellings refer to the same Italian marble. Bardiglio is the standard Italian spelling; Bardigilio appears in some Irish and English-language listings as a variant. Both describe the milky-white-with-grey terrazzo chipping quarried in Italy and used in fine terrazzo work.

How does Bardigilio compare to Carrara White?

Carrara White Terrazzo Chippings are a brighter, cooler white. Bardigilio carries the same milky base but with a warmer undertone and slightly more visible grey veining. For interiors with warm wood, brass, or earth-tone walls, Bardigilio reads more natural; for cooler colour schemes, Carrara White is the better match.

Can Bardigilio be polished as part of a terrazzo floor?

Yes. The marble is well suited to standard terrazzo grinding and polishing. After the slab is cast and cured, the floor is ground and polished to bring the marble flush with the binder, revealing the soft white-grey colour and any subtle veining across each chip. Talk to your installer about the right binder, grit progression, and seal for the look you want.
