They look a bit like wet leaves after an Irish shower and stay that way, because the colour goes all the way through the glass.

What they are and how they're made
These are crushed recycled glass chippings, not stone. Glass bottles and jars are melted at a very high temperature, then a permanent dye is added. The coloured sheet of glass is cooled, crushed, graded and bagged. The dye is part of the glass itself rather than a coating, so the chippings don't discolour with weathering the way some aggregates do. That matters a lot in a wet, grey Irish climate.

Where to use Green Glass Chippings
Memorials are their most common use, but they're used for a lot more than that.
- Grave kerb sets and memorial gardens: a gentle, lasting colour that needs very little looking after between visits.
- Terrazzo flooring: the chippings are cast into a wet concrete base and then machine-ground smooth. Most contractors choose the large 11 to 20 mm size for a stronger concentration of colour. You can browse the rest of our terrazzo flooring aggregates too.
- Resin bonded paving: driveways, paths, patios, footways, cycleways and car parks. Green strips on cycle paths are a favourite. Check with your installer about the aggregate they need, because resin will only take on dry chippings.
- Gardens and landscaping: use them on their own, or mix them with Clear Glass Chippings for a lighter, sea-glass effect.
Sizes, pack weights and coverage
You can choose from two sizes and four pack weights. The coverage figures are rough guides for decorative use at around 40 mm depth.

FAQs
Will green glass chippings fade outdoors?
No. The dye is added while the glass is molten, so the colour runs right through each chipping rather than sitting on the surface. They don't discolour with weathering, which is why so many families choose them for graves that will face years of rain, frost and sun.
How many bags do I need for a grave?
An average single Irish grave takes about six 25 kg bags. Larger plots and deeper kerb sets will need more, so measure the inside of the kerb and use the Online Calculator to check before you order.
Which size is best for terrazzo?
Most contractors use the large 11 to 20 mm size for terrazzo floors because it gives a stronger concentration of colour once the surface is ground smooth. The medium size gives a finer, more speckled finish.
